Cal's routine

Cal had some daily routines and here you have the chance to get insight into his everyday. It must be emphasized that the method used by Cal and Chris is not the only way to do it, but they have chosen to enlighten you, which will hopefully inspire you if you have cancer or wish to be proactive. The text below is a letter from Chris to Cal.

Morning Routine
Wake up (after a good 8-9 hours of sleep - that means 9 to 9.5 hours in bed). Sleep is when the body heals, and when the immune system is VERY active, and fighting its fight effectively. Your immune system is going to be SUPER charged from the nutrition routines you do during the day, but it needs time to do its work. Sleep is the ultimate food for the immune system and the mind. Brew strong Sencha or gykuro green tea with Matcha. Steep tea for 8-10 minutes and drink within one hour

Consider a 20-30 minute walk after a cup of tea, and one more cup with you in a Nalgine, mix in a half cup of room temp water to cool it, so you can drink it while walking or at your turn around point. 20-30 minutes of walking will really help wake the body and brain up, especially considering we want to keep supplementing with Melatonin, which there is good evidence is a real booster for the immune system and has direct action on the cancer cells. This is just a good way to wake up the mind, focus and mood for your morning session.

Back from short wake up walk
While preparing juice drink tea and consider a piece of whole grain toast (not burnt) with crushed garlic (from jar and 4-5 fresh crushed on top) with turmeric (blended with olive oil and black pepper).

We want to take the juicing to a new level in relation to volume. We will be making enough juice for three big glasses, plus 2 (500 ml) thermos full. You can run 2-3 sessions through the juicer, empty the first session(s) into the thermoses. Fill them to the brim, and let them sit for about 2-3 minutes, so that the air will surface, then screw the top into the thermos (this will cause things to overflow, but this is the point, as we now know the oxygen is removed). The thermoses can be kept in the freezer without the top, and after filled put them in the fridge. Then continue with your next juicing session, to create the juice to drink before and during your morning exercise session.

We want to do enough to allow us to drink juices 2-3 times a day. This metronomic therapy is the same style we want to do with the green tea, and also the turmeric/garlic. It is going to be a lot of juice, as we want to be doing larger volumes than before. We are talking about a half to full pound of the good foods, like spinach, kale, cabbage, watercress, broccoli, celery, cauliflower, beet root, etc. So we have to buy large volumes of juicing stuff every other day, as after 3 days, we are loosing freshness. It is so important to learn to toss things and not feel bad about this. This is therapy and the kitchen is now a lab and therapy area. It will get messy and some things just have to be thrown out sometimes.

10 minutes before you are going to drink your first big glass or 1.5 glass of juice (i.e. when the juicing session is reaching an end, you have done the first batches, and stored the thermoses); you want to take your handful of walnuts and large table spoon of cod liver oil. Note: Remember to refrigerate your cod liver oil, and fish oil supplements, as well as your crushed garlic. Doing this will slow the gastric emptying time (the amount of time things stay in the stomach), which will allow for a steady and slow emptying of the stomach into the small intestine, which will allow for a slower rise in blood sugar and thus limit our insulin response.

Pour 1 large or 1.5 glass of juice to drink immediately, and one large or 1.5 glass into a Nalgine. Drink the juice, and then head out the door with your Nalgine. Throw the juicing tools into a bucket to soak, DO NOT SPEND TIME CLEANING UP NOW. Head out the door for an hour to power walk. Can be done in the gulches or just pavement (KISS, keep it simple stupid). When you reach your turn around point, 30 to 45 minutes later stop, and enjoy some sit time for 10 minutes, reflection time (could be good with ipod), and drink your Nalgine of Juice, or green tea, whatever you took with you to drink. Then head for home 30-45 minutes. This exercising will open up the glucose transporters in the muscles and help push nutrients into cells and avoid large insulin responses. The 1 hour of power walking will also use up some of the sugar stored in the muscles (glycogen), so that your next meal when you come home will also not cause much of an insulin response.

When you come home, do your oatmeal with lots of berries and 1 table spoon of crushed flax seed and a handful (6-8) of almonds or walnuts. 2-3 hours later you want to be drinking a thermos of juice, and a snack with turmeric and garlic, and a cup of berries, and tea, and taking your afternoon supplements. 2 hours later you want to drink another juice, consider a cup of berries again, and tea, decaf green tea is fine too.

Dinner routine
We have to get into putting red beans and lentils (can be an Amy’s lentil soup), into a pan to warm up. Put them into the food processor, and then add 2 cups of flash cooked broccoli, 3 cups of spinach (flash cooked 2-3 minutes), green beans, and flash cooked kale, and if possible Brussels sprouts. This works just like juicing, so get into it. It is a massive nutrient push. Add a small glass bowl of olive oil with turmeric and pepper blended in. You can add other spices and garlic to this to spice it up, but get it done.

The other important dish is to take a large frying pan. Warm up some olive oil and sautee, do not blast fry, a big yellow onion, a BIG cup of green onion, and thinly sliced carrots, and around 8-10 fresh crushed garlic cloves. Let this go until oils are tender, around 5-7 minutes. Then you can add a nice dose of olive oil turmeric pepper mix, and salt and pepper. Then add box of king oyster mushrooms, give them 4-5 minutes, then add 3-4 cups of fresh spinach. Put lid on and let go for 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and eat when you want (within 10 minutes, removing from heat or pan is a good idea, so the spinach does not get over cooked). Add spices as you like.

Drink a cup of tea with dinner 1.5 hour after dinner, do a snack with berries and a juice, can be a ready made Acai juice (super greens), and take your evening supplements. Remember to drink 2-3 glasses of good water a day also. Yes you are going to be pissing and shitting a lot, but that is the way it is. This is also going to be close to a part time job, to full time job to be on this type of therapy. I really hope you guys will TEAM WORK big time on this.
